About the Trainer
Camp K9 is an intensive service dog training program lead by Nyx Laîné and Wesley Ballard. It currently operates in two locations: a juvenile detention center and medium security prison. CK9 actively supervises training, ensuring that all participating inmates are up-to-date on curriculum and maintaining standards.
The dogs live with the inmates for the duration of their training, although they are taken to off-site veterinary facilities and kept under staff care when necessary. At this time, there are ten inmates assigned to the program alongside dogs.
CK9 is an independent branch of Vita Servitium. What this means is that all quality-testing and certification is run through them. Apart from this, we are an independent organization. We supply our own dogs and work with our own staff.

ABOUT
THE
DOGS
CK9 primarily uses dogs bred out of the Hellhound kennel. Of these, we primarily work with Great Danes and Catahoula Curs. We specialize in training our dogs primarily for mobility work.
We do also accept puppy donations. Reputable breeders, rescues, and owners may relinquish ownership of a dog for us to train. We will accept any breed of dog so long as it meets our requirements.
FOR INMATES
AS
POTENTIAL TRAINERS
Inmates with any history of animal abuse will be disqualified; inmates must have no violent infractions for a period of at least two years.
Exceptional trainers may be offered an internship and opportunity to become a certified dog trainer upon release.
